Worship at MPC
Many church services in America have two parts: singing and preaching. When you visit MPC, you will discover that our worship tradition is a bit different. We sing and preach, but we also read and pray more than you may be used to. This is because our liturgy can be described as reformed.
What’s unique about Reformed Worship?

Call to Worship
A short phrase from the Psalms, calling the congregation to the public worship of God.

Invocation
The initial prayer of the service, invoking the presence of the Triune God.

The Lord’s Prayer
A recitation of the prayer Jesus taught his disciples to pray.

Creed or Confession
A reading from a catechism, creed, or prayer, confessing the common faith.

Lectio Continua
A week-by-week reading of whole books of the Bible, usually one chapter at a time.

Pastoral Prayer
A prayer of confession of sin, thanksgiving for pardon, and intercession.

Psalm Singing
The Book of Psalms was written not only to be read, but to be sung. Therefore, in addition to singing hymns and songs of praise, we also sing a psalm every week.

Sermon
An exposition of a particular text of Scripture, from either the Old or New Testament. During a sermon, a passage is read, explained, and applied.

Benediction
A worship service concludes with the pastor announcing a blessing from God upon the people.
